Bill was born at Stoney Stanton in the UK and came to Australia in 1973. He started painting in oils at Woomera, SA and on his return to Adelaide he studied at the Adelaide Central School of Art for 3 years. Bill retired to Victor Harbour and now lives and paints in Encounter Bay .
He was introduced to pastels in 1991 at a workshop with John Patchett and fell in love with the texture, vibrancy and colours. Pastel is pure pigment which will not fade or lose its freshness and colour. It is the oldest form of painting and still shines after centuries.
Bill is an established and much appreciated pastel artist who has received awards and prizes for his paintings and has been on the cover of the Australian Artist Magazine.
He is the Founder and President of the Pastel Artists of South Australia Inc. His works are included in three teaching DVD's. His pastels hang in collections around the world.
